a tiny macos menu bar app that streams bff.fm, the station roll over easy airs on. click the cool rock for the current show, the track playing, album art and a play button. built on bff.fm's developer platform, and polled only while you're listening or looking. not an official bff.fm app.

conway's game of life, played out on my contribution graph. a cloudflare worker ticks the board every minute and rewrites the repo's history so the green squares match the live cells. it reseeds at midnight, and whenever the board dies out.

a route planner that sends you down streets you haven't covered yet. it takes the untraveled-roads export from wandrer.earth, matches it against the osm network, and builds loops that pick up as much new ground as possible — greedy, three edges of lookahead, and always holding back enough distance to get you home. exports gpx. traveling salesperson? more like wandering adventurer!

upload a photo, get a 3d-printable cookie cutter. the wall follows the subject's silhouette; canny edges are dilated into raised ridges on the stamp, so the eyes and whiskers and stripes press into the dough.
a small web crawler in rust. stays inside one domain, pulls down the jpgs and gifs it finds along the way, and files them by format, domain and size.
a swatch internet time beat generator, in elixir. it drives the @beat readout in the top bar.
my home assistant config. an airvisual sensor watching the air over berkeley, google text-to-speech, and a random sensor that reports in protons. i love home assistant.

herb caen's loyal royal, scaled up until the keys were seats. sit on one and a herb quote plays over the speakers. across its weekend on market street they played more than 20,000 times. built for the prototyping festival, 2015.

engineering manager for the service that assembles the conversation view — what you get every time you tap a tweet. about eight billion requests a day at ~99.99% uptime. shipped edit tweet, reply pinning, reply filtering and sorting, and the logged-out experience alongside product teams.

engineering manager, three teams in a year: half the org during a vp search, then backend platform and infrastructure, then the front end building notebooks on yjs and prosemirror. p1 bugs down about 90% in the first sixty days.
recurly2014–2020
six years, support engineer to engineering manager. built and scaled the developer experience and growth teams, and shipped api v3 and the client libraries. before that: the netsuite integration, gaap revenue recognition, read-only api keys, and recurly's first ml application.
vulume2013–2014
software engineer, one of three, on a saas platform for tracking construction progress. photo uploads, onboarding, a realtime timeline, profiles.
homerun2010–2013
customer support, then software engineer. the first stretch on customer service and operational workflow analysis, and learning to program. homerun was acquired by rearden commerce (deem) in the fall of 2011.

service

chaired the board of directors. more than thirty interconnected programs for low-income and immigrant working families in the portola, excelsior, and visitacion valley — early childhood education through grandparent support groups, family literacy through intensive case management.
advised the city council on economic development, the annual work plan, and the subcommittees drawing up plans for priority areas.
